Employees are the driving force for sustainability in logistics. Therefore, it is important that they know what the topic means, why we deal with sustainability and know examples from practice.
Education plays a key role in this regard. Škoda Auto Logistics started conceptual training of logistics specialists in the area of sustainability in 2016. The basic training explains the situation regarding the climate crisis, describes the objectives of Europe and the VW Group and presents concrete measures with examples of good practice. For a deeper understanding of CO2 emissions, employees have access to e-learning and emissions calculation training. If specific knowledge is needed, we organise special courses, for example the "Let's talk plastics" training course.
The Green Logistics team actively supports the Group's sustainability activities such as Project1Hour and Green Week.
The event for members of the Green Logistics team – WS Green Logistics in the Krkonose Mountains National Park (KRNAP) – was very well received, where employees strengthened their team relationships, supported KRNAP with their work and saw the direct impacts of the climate crisis in one day.
Our aim is to emphasise the need for cost-effective behaviour, while at the same time pointing out that a change of perspective can bring about more environmentally and socially friendly practices. Introducing green sustainable logistics does not stop at the gates of the Škoda Auto plant. We cooperate with schools, offer lectures for Czech and foreign students and also support education, for example by helping to equip classrooms – see pictures.
